Product overview

ALPOLIC®/fr is a non-combustible mineral filled composite panel manufactured by Mitsubishi Plastics with architectural grade aluminium with 0.5mm skins on both sides of the panel. ALPOLIC®/fr is used as an exterior and interior cladding panel to enhance the aesthetics of projects along with the refurbishment of existing buildings.

Innovation – Style – Performance

ALPOLIC®/fr is lightweight, rigid and flat with a 3 coat, 3 baked Lumiflon based fluoropolymer paint system. The reverse back skin is coated with a polyester wash coating. ALPOLIC®/fr uses a unique continuous Die Coating system which ensures the uniformity of the colour with a smooth surface finish giving ALPOLIC®/fr a low maintenance alternative.

ALPOLIC®/fr is a Green Star(R) relevant product as verified by Ecospecifier Global’s Technical Opinion and is also relevant to the LEED(R) tool of the  US Green Building Council. The use of ALPOLIC®/fr on your next project should qualify your project/s to obtain Green Star(R) credits from the Green Council of Australia within the context of a Green Star(R) application

ALPOLIC®/fr panels are available in a wide range of Solid, Metallic, Sparkling and Prismatic colours and now also includes the new NaturArt Series featuring Stone, Timber, Metal and Abstract finishes which are produced with a unique image-transfer coating system.

Application: Exterior

After being in the market worldwide for over 30 years, ALPOLIC®/fr  has become  the most acceptable and suitable materials for external cladding of buildings, due to its lightweight, high rigidity, excellent flatness, long lasting coating qualities and the wide range of colours.

There are some restrictions throughout the world in the use of Alumunium Composite Panels due to its inflammable plastic core. To counter act this, Mitsubishi Plastics Asia Pacific (MPAP) have improved the quality of the core material to provide a non-combustible core for ALPOLIC®/fr which complies with the fire-safety requirements for external usage in most of Europe, USA and Asia.

Today, ALPOLIC®/fr is the preferred choice of Architects for external cladding material, ensuring a fire safe and eco-friendly Green Star building.

Application: Interior

ALPOLIC®/fr LT, has an excellent surface finish with a wide range of coating variations that fits into your interior cladding for use in areas such as shops, offices and hotels et al. ALPOLIC®/fr LT is ideal for use on interior walls, columns, ceilings and partitions.

Application: Signage

ALPOLIC® is lightweight and easy to process, which has made ALPOLIC® the best choice for the signage industry. ALPOLIC® has been designated as an eligible material for the global rebranding  program of Motor Car dealership’s such as TOYOTA and internationally branded Petrol service stations such as SHELL and MOBILE. The installed surface is perfectly flat and the Lumiflon-based fluorocarbon coating can keep its glossy surface for over 15 years.

Alpolic Technical Information

ALPOLIC®/fr is an aluminium composite material (ACM) with a non-combustible mineral-filled core. Used as an exterior and interior cladding and roof covering on new buildings and retrofit applications, the material is manufactured by Mitsubishi Chemical Functional Products, Inc. and furnished by approved dealers or distributors.

Product Composition

ALPOLIC ®/fr is composed of a non-combustible mineral-filled core sandwiched between two skins of 0.5mm thick aluminium alloy (3105-H14):

The surface is finished with a high-performance Lumiflon-based fluorocarbon coating, and the back is a wash coating or service coating. ALPOLIC®/fr is available in four finishes: Solid colours, Metallic colours, Sparkling colours and Stone Series. In these finishes, Lumiflon-based fluorocarbon paints are applied in the manufacturer's continuous coil coating lines. The Lumiflon-based fluorocarbon coating complies with the "specification for coated coil for exterior building applications" issued by both the ECCA (European Coil Coating Association) and the AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association). Refer to "6. Paint finishes" below for details on ALPOLIC®/fr paint finishes.

The back of ALPOLIC®/fr (which will face the structural wall or steel when it is installed as a cladding panel) has a polyester-based wash coating or service coating to protect it frompossible corrosion problems.

The surface is protected with a self-adhesive peel-off protective film consisting of two polyethylene layers of white and black. According to weathering tests under normal outdoor conditions, the protective film will withstand six months' exposure without losing its original peel-off characteristic or causing stains or other damages.

ALPOLIC®/fr is supplied with a cut edge and without aluminium sheet displacement or core protrusion.
